OPENED FIRST PRESSURE ULCERS CENTER

On 28.09.2011 was opened, the first Pressure Ulcers Center in Republic of Macedonia in Gerontology Institute 13 November. Guest of the event was the Minister of health Mr. Nikola Todorov.

Pressure Ulcers Center  work as:

• Call center – which is available every work day, with possibility of consultations with Doctor and specialist nurse
• Daily hospital – for consultations and dressing
• Home visit – for dressing and instructions for patients and their families
• Center for education of:
• Nurses
• Patients and their families

Manual for patients and home caregivers was promoted, which is the first manual of this kind in the country. The Manual can be downloaded from here Mk | Al (the translation in English is not available).

Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Gerontology Institute’s experts work on Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of pressure Ulcers, and the hospital protocols for this issue.

GOAL: Standardized protocols and documentation in all hospitals in the Republic of Macedonia.
PREVALENCE OF PRESSURE ULCERS IS QUALITY INDICATOR OF CARE

Membership in EPUAP
Republic of Macedonia become member of European Pressure Ulcers Advisory Panel

Training – nurses workshops will begin from second week of October, open for  all hospitals facing  this kind of problems.
